David Allan Coe (born , Akron, Ohio, USA) - American country singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s. He has written and recorded over 280 songs throughout his long career. As a singer, he is known for his hits "You Never Even Called Me by My Name", "The Ride", and "Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile". His most famous and successful hits include "Would You Lay With Me (in a Field of Stone)" for Tanya Tucker; and "Take This Job and Shove It", later recorded by Johnny Paycheck.
