Postgirobygget was formed in 1995 in the student environment in Trondheim. The band consists of Arne Hurlen (vocals and guitar), Øyvind Kolset (keyboards and choir), Per Sarin Madsen (drums and choir), and Nils Petter Time (guitar and choir).

Since its inception, the band has toured regularly and sold over 500,000 albums. Their debut album, Melis, was released in 1996, featuring several hits that have remained on the radio. Postgirobygget then released the albums Essensuell, Supertanker, and 4-4-2, culminating in the compilation album "Best of All" in 2003.

In recent years, Postgirobygget's popularity has only increased, with concerts consistently selling out.
