Canadian progressive rock band Saga gained recognition and carved out their own niche in the music world, thanks to the pleasant vocals of frontman Michael Sadler (born July 5, 1954), the interesting guitar play of Ian Crichton (born August 3, 1956), their unconventional ideas for conceptual albums, and their ability to produce radio hits.

In 1977, Michael Sadler performed with drummer Steve Negus in the group Pockets, previously known as Fludd. Later, Ian Crichton and Jim Crichton joined the band.
